Oh, how I LOVE to cook! But I especially love baking…goodies.
Today, I’ll try out a new recipe for a banana raisin bread made with whole wheat flour. I clipped the recipe from the Gold Medal whole wheat flour bag, and I’ve aged 4 bananas to perfect over-ripeness. It even calls for some nonfat yogurt, and I’m prepared for that, too. The wind is blowing outside and it’s a cold day…perfect for puttin’ something in the oven.
I’m thinking red clam sauce over pasta for dinner. It’s another recipe that I clipped from a big can of clams, and what a crowd-pleaser! The recipe makes enough for about 3 nights of dinners…maybe 4…and it freezes well, too. The can of clams is huge, at 51 ounces. Costco has them at 2 big cans for about $11.00. And I’m one who never cared for clams much, except in clam dip or New England clam chowder, but this recipe is killer!
Gotta’ go now…the ripe bananas are calling..
*next day*
Good recipe for the bread! Too good, actually! One loaf is gone already. I’ll add finely chopped walnuts, the next time I make that bread. That would make it perfect, I think.
I didn’t make the clam sauce. Another day for that. But I could go for some pasta of some kind..
*It’s Saturday, Feb. 9th*
Yesterday, we had grilled cheese sandwiches with whole wheat bread and Velveeta. OMG! They were delicious. It’s been WAY too long since I had one of those!
I’m finally getting that pasta for dinner tonight…no clams, just mushrooms for tonight’s sauce. There’s something about pasta that calms my nerves..
*February 13*
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and I’ll make a special meat loaf, since hubby requested it. He tells me it’s the best meat loaf he’s ever had, which flatters me! I like it, too, so it doesn’t last long around here.
We’ll have a relaxing day together tomorrow, then we’ll visit the Stillwater Saloon for an hour or two of socializing…ok, yes, and drinking… with the locals.

My homemade kahlua will be “ready” in a few days. The recipe makes a gallon. I did a sneak preview, and it tastes just like the liquor store version. My favorite, so far, is on the rocks. August 30th, it’ll be ready to go!
Comment by lifeonthestillwater August 27, 2009 @ 4:24 pmHmmmm…I’m on my second bottle of homemade kahlua. That is, I just made my second bottle. Now I wait 30 days, shaking every five days (the kahlua…not me).
